Fractals...Fractals...Fractals..... this is the word which has been reeling through my mind for past few months.....

it is a self repetitive form, with mesmerizing charm..... it is a form which is self repetitive, basically it is a mathematical equation.....
it can be seen in many ancient buildings....
you can observe in shikaras of many Hindu temples.....
Many cathedrals also have these fractals.
There is a basic shape which is repeating it self in different proportions.we can observe this type of pattern in trees. fractals are in nature it has psychological effects on any one exposed to it...
Though it may be accidental or intentional our ancestors have recognized these patterns and applied it to building aesthetics. although we forgot that such patterns exist yet we simply say those were aesthetically pleasing not knowing the basic principle behind those aesthetically pleasing structures......
these forms seem to have positive effect on humans who are exposed to them for prolonged periods.
These can be applied to architecture to increase building efficiency. fractals can be applied in plans elevation treatments or for structural details...... fractal columns can increase structural efficiency......
It is as said in Vedas "purnamathah purnamidam,
                               purnath purna mudashyathey,
                               purnasya purnamadayah,
                               purna mevevishyathey"
which translates to " that is fullness, this is fullness, this fullness sprang out of that fullness if this fullness is taken out of that fullness what remains is fullness."how true is the knowledge of our ancestors. It is our turn to start a new trend in architecture "FRACTAL ARCHITECTURE."
